Cannot copy files through webdav

Postby snaptec » Wed Feb 08, 2012 6:35 am

I installed owncload as described here:
http://owncloud.org/support/setup-and-i ... ux-server/
on a fresh ubuntu 10.04LTS Server

Everything looks fine as it should.

When I connect to own cloud through webdav (tested with my macbook and with another 10.04 Ubuntu server) I can see the files I should.
When I copy something to the webdav share it is visible but the size is always 0 Byte.

What did I do wrong her?

Even when I make a ls -lah on the mounted fresh copied webdav share
I get:
-rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 0 2012-02-07

Hope anyone got a hint.

Love own cloud, but net the possibility to mount the share through webdav

Regards
Kevin

I have the same problem!

What guest system do you have? Ubuntu, too?

I'm running Ubuntu 11.10 and my ownCloud is on hosted webspace.

When I try to copy through terminal I get an input/output - error.

already solved this issues. Try cyberduck instead of finder! Works 100%

It seems that finder connects only via http while cyberduck allows a real webdav connection, you have to type in the server name in the url and in extended options (further below) you have to type the path to the webdav.php file.

Same here, OSX Lion.

I can create folders, move, rename and delete files/folders, but any file uploaded is 0 bytes :?

Also, while cyberduck works ok, it cannot be considered even remotely as a workaround, not scriptable so auto synch is not an option etc...

Thats why I asked if someone knows a cool workaround for auto sync. The other teammates in my project are really unfamiliar with computers and teaching them is too much effort since they life far away :S They like dropbox (which is too unsafe for our project) and want a solution as simple as possible. Let me know if you found smth. interesting.

Ahh I´m not the only one :)
I tried with another ubuntu 10.04 Server and OSX Lion as webdav client.

Cyberduck is working, but is there a real fix for finder planned?

I´m asking because the other users which use this want a real simple way.
I administrate their Macs and mounting them the Webdav is easy.
Tell them to use Cyberduck not :(

The really nice thing is the User Control / Share option.
That they have the possibility to involve other people in a couple of projects, managing that through the web interface, what a normal webdav/apache does´t allow, But the webdav connection is a main thing that has to work.

Does it have to do something with that errors in the apache error.log? got that very often:

I guess that has to do with this bug report:

It also works fine with muCommander, while I get the same error on OSX Lion with the Finder. Still not a fix to the problem, but I hate the Finder anyway ;)

Hi,

can anyone tell me how you made cyberduck on mac os Snow Leopard work?
There are 2 protocols for webdav: webdav or webdav(http/ssl)
I tried both but I get an i/o-error.
server name: ip-address of my server
username and password filled in
path: path to webdav.php

and it doesn't work for me
regards
