data directory accessible? .htaccess not working??

Hello,

I just updated owncloud 4.5.2 to 4.5.3 on my server. Everything works fine (in some cases even better than before), but then I noticed the following warning in the admin section:

"Your data directory and your files are probably accessible from the internet. The .htaccess file that ownCloud provides is not working. We strongly suggest that you configure your webserver in a way that the data directory is no longer accessible or you move the data directory outside the webserver document root."

This is weird because I had nothing changed in /data, just updated, and there was no warning before. Even more strange: the .htaccess file in /data still is from the date when I installed 4.5.2 ...

I had a look into the forum and found that same bug as something in 5.0 alpha from May/jun 2012 ... ist this a zombie.bug??

Is there a solution? or maybe a .htaccess file that I could install instead??

You are using Apache server, right? Check if you can "manually" access your data directory via http(s)://path.to.your.owncloud/data/

Yes, it is obviously apache.

I get a blank page, when trying to access /data, and the owncloud "access denied" page, when trying to open the sub directories.

Everything okay?

I also have the same issue. if i acess "www.server.com/data/user/files/somefile.txt" i can view it, if i don't specify a file i will get a "access forbidden" page.

Update:
solved my problem, maybe it'll help you.

I removed .htacess from owncloud root
then changed
/config/config.php installed = true to "insalled = false"

then just reloaded /index.php input username/pass and clicked finish install. The warning has now disapeared and i can no longer access files via address bar

What does your .htaccess in the data folder look like?
