Sync of shared folders

Postby surrogat2000 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:36 pm

Hi,

I've installed owncloud in the current version. There are two users A and B. User A has a folder test that is shared to user B (read/write). User B can access this folder via WUI as well as via webdav. The only problem is, the syncclient does not sync the shared folder, it is left empty.
Why is that and how can I fix it.

After doing some research I've found the following:

* the webdav-Component of the OC-Server uses the information from the database if you connect via browser
* the webdav-component of the OC-Server uses the information from the filesystem if you connect via sync-client (http-call PROPFIND)

Since the link of shared folders is only in the database the sync-client will never now the shared folder thus it will never be synced.

Is this a bug or is it working as intended?

Exactly same problem here.

I workarounded it with a symbolic link to the shared directory from the other user, inside the directory in server...but it is "dirty" I know.

I think I just stumbled onto this same bug. OnwCloud 3.0.3 server configured and running without incident on Ubuntu 11.10 in Amazon Web Services; using SSL only. I installed the sync client version 1.0.1 on my laptop running Kubuntu 12.04; after configuring sync, the icon shows up in the system tray with a red X and the following error:

Code: Select all
The target directory
ownclouds://FQDN-of-server/owncloud/files/webdav.php/clientsync
does not exist.

However, I can open a browser to https://FQDN-of-server/owncloud/files/webdav.php/clientsync and it works. I saw the bug report. Is there a fix in the works? The report didn't say. I suppose, for now, a symlink is the only workaround?

I used windows client 1.0.1. The clientsync folder has been created by my client.
I only get an error message if I want to sync with shared folders.
Other folders work fine for me (also on Ubuntu).

The Linux client successfully created the clientsync folder -- I had my browser window open to my home folder while I was setting up the client and I saw the folder appear. But once the client tried to configure sync, it threw the error I quoted.

Yes. In the server I've done a symbolic link inside de Shared directory of user "B" pointing to the user's "A" folder that it's shared with user "B".

I repeat...it's very "dirty" solution :p

It seems the Bug-Report at http://bugs.owncloud.org/thebuggenie/owncloud/issues/oc-560#add_comment_location_core_1_562 has been closed as DUPLICATE.

But where is the original issue? Couldn't find it.
