OC4 gallery only scans some folder

Postby eMarcus » Mon May 28, 2012 6:54 pm

Hi,

I have a "Fotos" folder in the root directory of my user for all sorts of pictures. It includes certain subfolders for my mobile phone and for other sources.

In the OC4 gallery settings, I specified the /Fotos/ folder to be scanned.

When I press "Rescan", the progress bar stays very long on position 0 and jumps then to complete. After than, I just see the first subfolder of /Fotos/, but no other folders :-(

When I specify a subfolder as the folder to be scanned, again, some folders (in that subfolder) are scanned, others not.

again something that worked smoothly under 3.0.3...

any ideas?
bye
Marcus.

Hello,

I think I have the same problem on my ownCloud instance (v4.0 also). My pictures collection is organized as follow:
Pictures/
----------2010/
----------------2010-January/
--------------------------------img1.jpg
--------------------------------img2.jpg
--------------------------------...
If in the gallery app, I scan the /Pictures/ folder, the 2010 directory won't be displayed. But if I have an image file at the top of the directory, it will work. Let's say that I also have a directory called 2011:
Pictures/
----------2011/
----------------img0.jpg
----------------2011-January/
--------------------------------img1.jpg
--------------------------------img2.jpg
--------------------------------...
The 2011 folder will be displayed in the gallery thanks to the img0.jpg file.
Can this be the same problem as your?
If it is the same, I will try to write a bug report...

I have a similar issue:

It looks like OC4 does not scan all directories in "/". Although the settings have "/" as starting point, the gallery only scans one sub-directory at the top level. If I choose one of the missing sub-directories as the starting point in the settings, it is scanned properly in the galery (including multiple sub-directories).

Hey there!
Same Problem here: i've set /Bilder/ as starting point for pictures in gallery. OCv$ finds the subfolders (e.g."Phone") but shows no pictures in the galery.
Even if i set "/Bilder/Phone" there are no pictures displayed. Not good.
Help appreciated!

How long did you wait after starting the scan?

I'm relatively new to OC, but it seems to me, that scanning the picture folder could take some time. Even it did for me, as I changed folder names and it took around 15 to 20 minutes to show only the renamed folder (was dog, renamed to _dog). for this time both folders were shown, but only one was present in the file system).

Try restarting your server (and the db/mysql server) and clearing the caches (browser as well) and wait a bit. Maybe this helps.

Okaykay, did so and it did not work properly. I can see the folders (blank) and if i enter the folder, there are just question-marks for each picture, no thumbnails. Clicking on the question-mark does show the pic, but it' a little annoying without thumbnails.

Are all settings correct for your server? Especially the GD lib should be setup correctly, otherwise the Thumbnails won't work.

I had the same problem, but it turns out, that I didn't wait long enough. OC seems to be not the fastest system on earth, and so my installation needed some time to get all things straight.

No, waited long enough. It must have other causes.

I tested now to scan subfolders and it definitely looses folders when scanning. for some strange reason, it does not scan all available folders. I have not found a criteria why a folder is ignored...

I have exactly the same problem! All subfolders of gallery root which don't directly contain images are not shown!

And even for those containing images, not all seem to show the contained images; some don't show any pictures. Edit: But it could have been that the first scanning run just didn't finish properly somehow, a second one now (although only on a subfolder of the previous root) worked fine, all folders with images directly in them now also show them

Hi,

Yes, I can confirm that folder not holding any images are ignored, regardless if they hold subfolders with images!

So, workaround is to put at least one image in every folder!
