How Can I Manually Add a Group Admin

Postby toddwalsh » Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:15 am

Hello - i accidently removed my group admin privileges and now I don't have a user with group admin privileges. Is there a way I can manually give group admin privileges to a user? I just setup and started using OwnCloud 5.x on a Linux PC. Thank you!

Hi,

there is a table called:

oc_group_admin

in your database where you can set an user manually as an group addmin with a tool like phpmyadmin or MySQL Workbench. The syntax of the table is easy, you need to add the Name of the Group (from the oc_groups table) into the gid field and the Name of the user to the uid field.

Actually, you shouldn't need to manually fiddle around with anything - there should still be the administrative account you created at setup time, with that you should be able to change any user to be group admin again.
That admin rights derive from the user being part of the "admin" group as far as I know...

Thank you. Everything works great and setting up MYSQL workbench definitely helps.
