that would be bad news. However, the owncloud-Client for Android works well with owncube. There is an option to keep files in sync, which works well with my owncube server, so I am wondering if the problem is more the setup on ubuntu than the owncube service..?

Hi,

as written above this is probably a problem with the configuration of your client and not with the provided service by owncube.

I'm wondering why this is happening:

07-11 12:02:59:851 OO Custom config file in use: "/home/nico/.local/share/data//ownCloud/owncloud.cfg_071113120259"

Your client should use the /home/nico/.local/share/data//ownCloud/owncloud.cfg and not this custom config.

another weird thing is that since I deleted /home/nico/.local/share/data/ownCloud and reinstalled the client afterwards, /home/nico/.local/share/data/ remains empty, no ownCloud folder has been recreated by the client, so there is also no .cfg file..

Mhhh, and you're still getting this config file message above in your logfiles when your starting the client?

Hi,

any chances that you're running the client with another user like root or that you have run the client as the root user in the past?

Please check the permission of all of the containing folders:

/home/nico/.local/share/data/ownCloud

It worked! ;) Thank you Rancor :!:

I used

Code: Select all

sudo chown -Rc nico:nico /home/nico/ownCloud
sudo chown -Rc nico:nico /home/nico/.local/share/data

I recognized that there were two files left in /home/nico/ownCloud whos ownership was not changed to "nico" so I tried to change them manually:

Code: Select all

sudo chown nico:nico /home/nico/ownCloud/.csync_journal.db
sudo chown nico:nico /home/nico/ownCloud/.csync_journal.db.ctmp

the first one worked, the second one keeps changing ownership back to root instantly.

Now I am able to start the client without root permission. The Owncloud-folder syncs well with my server. A tray icon is now shown. When I klick "show status" it reveals an error message: "CSync was not able to load the state db". Could this be because I was not able to change ownership of the file?

Might there be still a sync client running as root? The file owner doesn't just change all by itself.

Yupp, probably a still running owncloud process is causing this.

I've just created a bugreport for this at the bugtracker:

https://github.com/owncloud/mirall/issues/752

because in my opinion there should be a warning if the owncloud.cfg can't be written.

After restart I was able to change the owner and now all works perfectly. Thanks a ton for your support
