vanklaa wrote:Hello there,

I have the same problem. It started to occur when I enabled encryption. When I disable the encryption app, it works fine. Any suggestions, except for the user change? I am still new to owncloud, so please be lenient towards me ;)

This worked for me, too... unfortunately. Hope to see a bugfix soon, because running without encryption is a bit worrisome. :(

Hi,

anyone reported this to the developers at the bugtracker? If not you won't see any bugfixes for this.

Same problems here. For me the problem seemed to be more tied to the version of owncloud-client but upgrades to the current version do nothing. Where should we put a bug ticket in for the developers?

...but in general I am absolutely loving ownCloud! :)

I did have the same problem with the error message "The server did not provide an Etag".

In my case it had to do with the way the apache2 webserver was configured.
In the configuration I had to remove the following lines from the apache2 configuration

Code: Select all

Header unset ETag
FileETag None

I removed this from the file security which is located in /etc/apache2/conf.d (ubuntu 12.04 LTS).

Afterwards I have seen no problem with the synchronisation.

Hi,

and thanks for posting this info. Just added it to this FAQ:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7240

But just checked the /etc/apache2/conf.d/security file of a plain Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation. This file doesn't contain the mentioned config options. Another custom server config which has broken ownCloud. :(

We have Zentyal running on the same server. Maybe this helps you in finding the problem.

Maybe the Zentyal installer did make the modifications in the securities for the Apache2 server.

Hi,

this could be possible.

In conclusion we can see that running a non-standard configuration/environment which such custom modifications could break ownCloud. The Etag header is needed for file synchronization as stated here:

http://doc.owncloud.org/desktop/1.5/arc ... ersus-etag

which get removed by this "security" settings.
