File in owncloud server but not sync to owncloud client

Postby reipes » Sun Jul 03, 2016 9:30 am

Please help us by providing the following info.

I tried to share my samba share with owncloud for external usage. With inotify i check file changes and with occ files:scan --path="file to sync" I get my file correctly notified on owncloud webgui. The problem is that this file not sync to ownclient. Only when I make a change in the same directory on the client my files will correctly sync.

Steps to reproduce
1. occ files:scan --path="file to sync"

Expected behaviour
occ files:scan --path="file to sync" update my file correctly on owncloud web. Now I would expect that this file would sync to the client.

Actual behaviour
The file is correctly update on owncloud server. The client does not get the update. Also when the client make his checks for changes does not see the file changes.

Client configuration
Client version: 2.2.0
Client operating system: Win7 32-bit and Win7 64-bit

Server configuration
Operating system:
Web server: Server version: Apache/2.4.10 (Debian)
Database: mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.46, for debian-linux-gnu
PHP version: PHP 5.6.14-0+deb8u1
ownCloud version (see ownCloud admin page): owncloud-9.0.1
Updated from an older ownCloud or fresh install: update
ownCloud log (data/owncloud.log):

Special configurations (external storage, external authentication, reverse proxy, server-side-encryption):
external storage samba with occ files:scan --path="file to sync" on inotify

When having such issues please always use the latest available versions which are:

2.2.2 for the Sync Client
9.0.3 for the Server

oC 9.0.2 for example fixes this bug:

https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/24255

where a developer has written the following:

This is critical because it's the only way to properly make ownCloud detect remote changes for now.

Thanks for your response

I upgraded server and client:
server: 9.0.3
client: 2.2.2

But the problem is stil there. I see the green icon off the ownclient but some files that I can find on owncloud web interface are missing locally. As soon as I make some changes in the folder where files are missing the client starts to copy the missing files to local disk.

I can see the client analyzing the local disk every few minutes and than it says that everything is up to date again tough files are missing.
Is there some option to tell ownclient to make a complete check of differences between server and client?

Hi,

if you have re-run occ files:scan after the update and the files are still missing / not synced please check the bugtrackers at:

https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues
https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues

for known issues with external storages and report a new bug there if none exists. That are mostly issues not solvable by users.

should I run occ files:scan again also if I see the files on web?
When I run occ files:scan are all files downloaded again?

occ files:scan needs to be run regularly if you're changing files outside of ownCloud (e.g. on the external storage):

thank you again.

I read form the link that you need to run regularly occ files:scan to make changes known to ownserver. I do this already when inotify see some changes on filesystem.

occ files:scan also needs to be run after you have done the update to 9.0.3. If that doesn't help see the suggestion to search or report a bug above.

I tried but it did not help. It is very strange because the client analyse every some time the changes and sync also some files but than it says that everything is synchronised again. So the user don't know if his files are synchronised or not. I will try to report a bug
