Ubuntu 16.04 Repo Client?

Postby dfrandin » Wed Jul 13, 2016 5:47 pm

I'm using Owncloud 9.0.0 (stable) which works 100% via web interface, plus the Ubuntu repo client (Version 2.1.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1.1) works 100% on all Ubuntu 14.04 machines its installed on, all of which are desktop units, with persistant network connections.. However, my laptop, being Ubuntu 16.04, and using the same client from the repo, loses its mind frequently, such that I have to remove my account and readd it. Since the laptop is 100% on wifi, immediately after boot, before I've brought up a webbrowser to click on the "connect" button at various locations with wifi requiring a splashpage, the OC client will stay greyed out, indicating no connection to my OC server. When opening the OC client, there is a large red box showing "No connection to Owncloud at https://cloud.mydomain.org/owncloud, Network access is disabled" .. I've tried using the "account" pulldown to login, but each time, the red box message comes back. This is after I've enabled wifi network access and that is working fine.. The workaround, which is EXTREMELY annoying, is to remove the connection, then readd it, remembering carefully which folders I want synced and unchecking the rest. If I miss this step, or choose the default, I've got a mess as I'm going to have about 10Gb come screaming down the wifi connection.. Is there another client I can try to see if this problem can be solved? I'm on the edge of rolling out OC access to quite a few laptops which will be in the same boat as my "test" machine...

Thanks

After some time offline or in a network without internet, the client can take a few minutes to reconnect properly. If this does not happen, you should try the latest version of the client (which is 2.2.2). In case the bug still exists, please report to the bugtracker.

Hi,

that is a bug in the version shipped with Ubuntu 16.04:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1572321

and fixed with the official client 2.2.2 from owncloud.org according to:

https://github.com/owncloud/client/issues/4720

ok.. I completely removed the ubuntu repo version of the client via synaptic, downloaded the owncloud-client_2.2.2-18.4_amd64.deb, didn't add the ppa repo as the apt-get update reported no key for that repo. Upon trying to install the above client, package installer dies with an "error: dependancy is not satisfiable: libowncloudsync0 (= 2.2.2-18.4)".... Whats the fix???

Thanks
Dave

Use the repo instead of manually use .deb files. The key for that repo is linked at:

https://software.opensuse.org/download/ ... oud-client

(It helps to read all instructions)
