No apps listed/No internet connection/cURL error 60 message

Postby RealRancor » Thu Aug 13, 2015 9:16 am

Problem

  • The app page within your installation is just showing the "Not enabled" and "Enabled" categories and not any other like "Productivity".
  • A "No internet connection" message is shown in your admin backend
  • Your logfile is showing a "cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate"

Reasons

  • A broken, outgoing connection to the appstore (https://apps.owncloud.com)
    -> Please check via a call like:

    Code: Select all

    curl -i https://apps.owncloud.com

    if you're able to access the appstore. This call needs to be executed on the command line of your server (via SSH).
  • cURL is using outdated versions of OpenSSL or NSS (oC 8.1.1 should show this in the admin backend)
    -> You need to upgrade those versions to recent ones like stated here.
  • A missing config/ca-bundle.crt (Might be caused by a buggy updater app https://github.com/owncloud/updater/issues/164), for OC 8.1.x you can download it directly from github: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/owncl ... bundle.crt
    This doesn't apply for oC 8.2.x!!!
  • A disabled appstore ('appstoreenabled' => false, in your config.php)
  • A wrong configured appstore URL (Remove 'appstoreurl' => from your config.php)
  • Empty or wrong configured 'proxy' => '', in config.php
  • A broken, outgoing connection to https://www.owncloud.org)
    -> Please check via a call like:

    Code: Select all

    curl -i https://www.owncloud.org

    if you're able to access the page. This call needs to be executed on the command line of your server (via SSH).

Additional info

Feature request to be more verbose on this: https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/18269

Temporary workaround:

  • Download app from apps.owncloud.com
  • Extract the folder into your apps folder (/path/to/owncloud/apps)
  • App should show up in the list of "not enabled" apps. Enable it.
  • You have some time to fix the problem.

Here a little trick to test A broken, outgoing connection to the appstore (https://apps.owncloud.com)

working test ( ubuntu 15.04 ) :

Code: Select all

root@YYYY:/tmp# wget https://apps.owncloud.com

Résolution de apps.owncloud.com (apps.owncloud.com)⦠188.138.69.67

Code: Select all

I had another issue in my config.php, don't ask me who or how that got in, but if you can connect to the app page of oc, but you have still only have enabled and disabled check for that:

Code: Select all

  'apps_paths' =>
  array (
    0 =>
    array (
      'path' => '/var/www/owncloud/apps',
      'url' => '/apps',
      'writable' => true,
    ),
  ),

I got it working again as I removed the 0 => between the two array statements:

Code: Select all

  'apps_paths' =>
  array (
    array (
      'path' => '/var/www/owncloud/apps',
      'url' => '/apps',
      'writable' => true,
    ),
  ),

Hi,

thanks for posting that info. If you don't have different app folders you can also remove this completely.

Did you copy over the config.sample.php to config.php in the past?

The ca-bundle.crt can be downloaded here:

https://github.com/owncloud/core/tree/v8.1.1/config/

or extracted from the owncloud tar.bz2 archive on owncloud.org. The files needs to be put into your config/ folder as already described in the FAQ.

I've upgraded my 8.0.8 ownCloud to 8.0.9, then to 8.1.4 and it seems that now I got this problem, but none of the reasons fit my case:

  • A "No internet connection" message is shown in your admin backend
  • Your logfile is showing a "cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate"

All these happen to me, so I think this is the same problem i have.

Tried that and it just returned me the HTML page from apps.owncloud.com. I suppose this means it works.
cURL is using outdated versions of OpenSSL or NSS (oC 8.1.1 should show this in the admin backend)
-> You need to upgrade those versions to recent ones like stated here.

I'm using an Arch Linux based distributions (arm) and all these packages are already up to date
Curl -V:

Code: Select all

curl 7.45.0 (armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf) libcurl/7.45.0 OpenSSL/1.0.2d zlib/1.2.8 libidn/1.32 libssh2/1.6.0
Protocols: dict file ftp ftps gopher http https imap imaps pop3 pop3s rtsp scp sftp smb smbs smtp smtps telnet tftp
Features: AsynchDNS IDN IPv6 Largefile GSS-API Kerberos SPNEGO NTLM NTLM_WB SSL libz TLS-SRP UnixSockets

A missing config/ca-bundle.crt (Might be caused by a buggy updater app https://github.com/owncloud/updater/issues/164), for OC 8.1.x you can download it directly from github: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/owncl ... bundle.crt
This doesn't apply for oC 8.2.x!!!

I've upgraded manually, so that file came in the package and I confirmed that it is in the correct place.
A disabled appstore ('appstoreenabled' => false, in your config.php)

Confirmed, no 'appstoreenabled' entry on my config at all.
A wrong configured appstore URL (Remove 'appstoreurl' => from your config.php)

Confirmed, no 'appstoreurl' entry on my config too.
Empty or wrong configured 'proxy' => '', in config.php

Also confirmed, no such entry on my config.
  • Download app from apps.owncloud.com
  • Extract the folder into your apps folder (/path/to/owncloud/apps)
  • App should show up in the list of "not enabled" apps. Enable it.
  • You have some time to fix the problem.

That works and I've used it to reenable my calendar app, but would like to fix this definitively...

Thanks for any tip :D

If all those points in here doesn't fit have a look at:

https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/20028

and watch that issue.

Just to thank you because this file saved my problem of no internet connection message thus no possibility to update from 8.1.1
After putting the file, everything worked fine. Thanks a lot.
