Login loop

Postby Bionanotech » Mon Jan 14, 2013 5:24 pm

Dear OwnCloud community

I got a slight problem with my fresh owncloud installation.
Done:
1. Installed
2. Changing the rights of config and data
3. Installation page, using SQLlite (seems to be working)
4. Login page..... when I try to login it is always redirecting back to the login page without any errors.

Tryouts:
Session_path changed..... no effect

Hardware/Software:
- iPage hosted server
- PhP 5.3
- Platform: Debian

Any idea?

Kind regards

My standard question (because I had that problem once, but nobody else apparently yet :D ):
Do you have basic authentication enabled in the server configuration (i.e. "AuthType Basic")? This caused the same symptoms for me once.

Do you maybe have another owncloud installation running on the same host? An existing cookie for an owncloud on thes same host could also prevent login.

Dear Randolph

Thank you for your fast reply.

At first, I tried once the same version, but it was not working.
So, I "cleaned" the server via FTP and installed version 4.5.5 completely new.
Also, all cookies in the browsers were deleted.

Where can I activate basic authentication?
As I meantioned, it is a hosted server.
And I have searched through all possibilities which I have in my control panel... nothing seen so far.

Could you give me a hint how to change the configuration (if possible from my side)?

Thanks

As I meantioned, it is a hosted server.

Oh I overlooked that. I pretty sure no hosted server has basic auth enabled, so that's probably not it.
Except maybe in the .htaccess file, look for a line as stated ("AuthType Basic").
Otherwise, I have no idea at the moment, but dimly remember seeing similar topics here in the forum, if I'll find them I'll link them here.

Hello Randolph

At root I have no htaccess.
I stored the owncloud in a \owncloud folder.
Within this folder, I have the standard htaccess of owncloud:

ErrorDocument 403 /owncloud/core/templates/403.php
ErrorDocument 404 /owncloud/core/templates/404.php
<IfModule mod_php5.c>
php_value upload_max_filesize 512M
php_value post_max_size 512M
php_value memory_limit 512M
<IfModule env_module>
SetEnv htaccessWorking true
</IfModule>
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule .* - [env=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
RewriteRule ^.well-known/host-meta /public.php?service=host-meta [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^.well-known/carddav /remote.php/carddav/ [R]
RewriteRule ^.well-known/caldav /remote.php/caldav/ [R]
RewriteRule ^apps/([^/]*)/(.*\.(css|php))$ index.php?app=$1&getfile=$2 [QSA,L]
RewriteRule ^remote/(.*) remote.php [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_mime.c>
AddType image/svg+xml svg svgz
AddEncoding gzip svgz
</IfModule>
Options -Indexes

This helps?

i have a similar problem:

i had an installation on my server (ubuntu: apache2, mysql, php5.3.18) and played around with the apache and php configuration.

after that, a klick on a link from the menu at bottom left logs me out. but this is only in chrome, not in firefox used after i noticed this.

i have deleted all cookies, cache and other data in chrome, the problem is still there. after that i reinstalled owncloud on the same path: still that problem!

i have set up another installation on another path (and another mysql db). there are also no problems in chrome and ff!

i am looking for a solution for several hours but have no more ideas.

can someone help me?

Hi,

parallel to this thread another thread was created with the same problem. ms123 has posted a possible solution there:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8365&start=10#p20497

He had removed the .htaccess file in the root htdocs folder. Probably a Basic Authentication was configured there (this hint was also posted by RandolfCarter some posts above)
*gone*

Thanks, but erasing .htaaccess doesn't change anything...
