No, my described issue, has not yet been reported to the developers. I imagine it is just an issue of not making certain every table is being calculated correctly.

ownCloud is not only about files. There is so much more. Explore the apps to extend your ownCloud.

A big thanks for this thread!!!
It helped me a lot :]

I had to disable all the apps, then I use the upgrade command in the terminal and wait for 12 hours of re-encryption (lot of files).
Then I re-upload contacts and calendar and everything is OK: ]

edit: And adapt my Fail2Ban-Rules too.

So has anyone actually found a way of fixing this without any backup db or data? Can we hope for 8.0.1 to auto-resolve failed upgrades?

Because you know, when you do apt-get upgrade or have automatic updates turned on, it doesn't take a backup...

We have attached the corresponding github-issue to the bugs and most of them will be fixed in 8.0.1. There will be some testing version before so feel free to help testing it (we also put it in the announcement section of the forum).
Doing automatic upgrade via cronjob for software like owncloud is very brave. You could at least take the sources that you stay within one major version. For debian 7, instead of

Code: Select all

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/community/Debian_7.0/

take

Code: Select all

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/community:/7.0/Debian_7.0/

to stay in OC 7.0.x.

In your case, you could just put your backup script before the automatic update.

I got a notice from my webhoster shortly after I installed OC 8 on my webspace that "lib/private/tempmanager.php" causes heavy load on the server and quickly uses up diskspace by writing into "data/owncloud.log".

I had 13 GB in 47,963,425 lines within less than 4 hours.
{"reqId":"81ec406be3d6dd9c4b8e12c3a33b140c","remoteAddr":"xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx","app":"PHP","message":"Invalid argument supplied for foreach() at \/www\/htdocs\/w012f289\/cloud\/lib\/private\/tempmanager.php#102","level":3,"time":"2015-02-21T16:28:34+00:00"}

They patched "tempmanager.php" by adding a line "return;" after line 133.

The same problem was reported in the German forum, too.

MariaDB issue - I did not know about this 'problem' and I have MariaDB 10.0.16 installed on my Gentoo 64 bit system.

The upgrade went through fine for OC 8.0.0

I did find that I had to re-start Thunderbird, which was syncing calendars with OwnCloud.

Watch out with 'BookMarklet':

It's not 'only' the tags not working - in my new OC8 setup (php 5.6) only the description field works!

The BookMarklet not only changes the title but cuts off (!) some links.

Check my GitHub entry.

Right now the BookMarklet is utterly useless. I suggest only copy&pasting links directly into Bookmarks section of OC8, if you don't want to lose data.

Cheers, raimerik

Thanks @raimerik, I updated the list.
It seems that 3rd-party apps are very important point for upgrades.

Upgrade to OC 8.0.1 : well done !

Hello
I have successfully upgraded from OC 7.0.4 to 8.0.1:
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
- running update wizard from web interface.
- logging as admin user ( I decided to have an admin user different from my own "end user" ), activate contact and calendar app.
- correct php.ini to enable utf8 just has suggested from admin user page.

My OC configuration is has basic has possible : ubuntu 14 on an old eeepc, no encryption, no external storage, using unix Cron, mysql, apache2, forced https on custom port.
2 end users, 1 admin user, 1 dedicated user for syncing between PC and OC.
I use OC for
- file synchronisation between 1 PC , 2 tablet ( with foldersync and synchronise ultimate )
- contact & cal sync with 2 android phones ( with davdroid ).
Everything still works well after upgrade although I didn't follow recommendations exposed here. :)
surfing my folder structure thew web interface seems now to be faster.

After that, I got a problem with a third party app ( see here ) but it's just annoying, not blocking.

[edit] : after marking a folder has favorite, I tried to show with favorite view, but view never finalize, always get hourglass.[edit].. ok after waiting 3-4 minutes
