ownCloud was forked to NextCloud by most of the people left ownCloiud, inc.:

https://nextcloud.com/we-are-nextcloud- ... and-share/

For me this is the end of the "journey" for giving support for both, ownCloud and NextCloud. From my PoV this is the "death" of the ownCloud support community which never really exists.

This will be my last post in here. Thanks for the few people in here trying to help out each other.

ownCloud is not only about files. There is so much more. Explore the apps to extend your ownCloud.

The rats are leaving the sinking ship.

It's the end of ownCloud as a community project.
We should focusing on NextCloud now.

Hmmh... nextcloud starts from scratch. Infrastructure/github forking/... all has to be done.

What about the foundation?

Not sure if it is good to make decisions right away.

There is no version of Nextcould yet but they promise a smooth transition process from all owncloud versions 8.0 and later.

Personally i will stay with ownCloud for a while and see whats happening. No need to blindly run after a few guys and their promise. They where the main developers/contributors of oC and could have changed all that stuff they are now promise for Nextcloud.

For me this whole fork thing has a bad smell like "we did a lot of stuff wrong, just drop and leave ownCloud and start from scratch without fixing the stuff we previously made wrong" (e.g. broken updates, not possible to skip major upgrades, conflict with the debian packagers).
