Where to find development discussions?

Let's discuss about the project and our community, licence issues (insofar we can answer them), surveys and many more.

Hi,

there is no forum for developer discussions. Everything in this direction is done at at github (e.g. https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues) or at the developers mailinglist at https://mailman.owncloud.org/mailman/listinfo/devel

Ok, thanks RealRancor! I signed up for the list already! :-)

Are the mailing lists archived somewhere where you can search or browse in them?

Btw, any particular reason using mailing lists rather than the existing OC forum? Imo, Github is great for specific discussions targeting PR and issue tracking but is far from being as good as a regular message board (like MyBB or phpBB). In particular when you need a sounding board to discuss ideas with experienced experts and, among other things, receive help to establishing developer environments etc, etc... A good example is the Kodi forum (http://forum.kodi.tv)

Any plans to move over soon?

Thanks in advance!

Just open the posted mailinglist link and you will see an archive. A 3rdparty archive which is searchable is available here:

http://owncloud.10557.n7.nabble.com/

The reasons for using the mailinglist rather then the forums is something you should ask the developers of oC. They probably just prefer that way of communication.

Thanks! Do you happen to know who is managing those mailing lists? Why I'm asking is that I got approved but I still cannot send anything to the list yet. Btw, when you say "developers of oC", do you mean the people at OwnCloud Inc or the open source community?

Feeling *embarrassed*. Have I bothered looking further down the page i'd probably discovered it myself. Sorry about my laziness! :-)
