Configuring Memcached on SiteGround server

Postby GJSchaller » Wed Dec 30, 2015 9:04 pm

I'm working with OwnCloud 8.2.1 on a SiteGorund hosted server running PHP 5.6. Memcached is enabled, with the following information provided by SiteGround:

Your credentials for activating Memcached:
Your IP address: 127.0.0.1
Your port: 20000

I'm attempting to add this to my config.php, but the example given at https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.2/adm ... ation.html lists APCu as the local cache, which is confusing...

This is my entry for config.php, which gives me the error listed after it:

'memcache.local' => '\OC\Memcache\Memcached',
'memcache.distributed' => '\OC\Memcache\Memcached',
'memcached_servers' =>
array (
0 =>
array (
0 => '127.0.0.1',
1 => 20000,
),
),

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/png" href="Memcache \OC\Memcache\Memcached not available for local cache Is the matching PHP module installed and enabled?

Any idea what I am missing in my config.php to make this work properly?

Thank you for your help!

Have you checked with an phpinfo page if the php module is really loaded?

Hi,

memcache is not memcached so you're missing the memcached module

I asked SiteGround support if it was memcached, or just memcache... They had said it was memecached. I'll go back and hit them up again.

Yes, they are providing memchached according your initial post but your phpinfo output is showing the memcache php module enabled which is not the correct module.

I have verified it's enabled on my account, using cPanel. Now the trick will be: what's the proper configuration in config.php to use it?

Verifying in cpanel won't work. You need to check your phpinfo that the memcached (not memcache) module is loaded.

This is the response from SiteGround:

I double checked the server and the Memcached service is running for your owncloud cPanel user:

Code: Select all

owncloud 30665 0.0 0.0 292228 1004 ? Ssl 08:31 0:00 /usr/bin/memcached -d -p 20000 -u owncloud -m 64 -c 256 -P /var/run/memcached/owncloud/memcached-20000.pid -l 127.0.0.1

The server that you should use for your application is 127.0.0.1 and the port is 20000.

That being said, what is the proper entry in config.php to use this? I'm trying the following:

'memcache.local' => '\OC\Memcache\Memcached',
'memcache.distributed' => '\OC\Memcache\Memcached',
'memcached_servers' => array(
array('127.0.0.1', 20000),
),

Still the PHP module for memcached is missing. This is not about the memcached server itself, those are two completely different components.
