Update from 8.2.3 to 8.2.5 -> no files visible in the web GUI

Postby ttjaden » Tue May 24, 2016 11:47 am

Steps to reproduce
1. Running Version 8.2.3 stable for many weeks
2. Started the Update to 8.2.5 via Web App
3. because I use HostEuropa Pack M as shared hoster, before finishing the update, I had to comment out the following lines in the .htaccess
# php_value upload_max_filesize 513M
# php_value post_max_size 513M
# php_value memory_limit 512M
# php_value mbstring.func_overload 0
# php_value always_populate_raw_post_data -1
# php_value default_charset 'UTF-8'
# php_value output_buffering 0
# Options -Indexes
4. I was able to load the page an finish the update and activate deactivated apps again

Expected behaviour
of course, a working system without any problems :/

Actual behaviour
After Update, no files are visible in the Web GUI and a new Error is shown in the admin-panel: "Dein Webserver ist noch nicht hinreichend für Datei-Synchronisation konfiguriert, weil die WebDAV-Schnittstelle vermutlich defekt ist."
All files in the /data/ directory are still there, but they are not shown in the Web GUI and also the OwnCloud Client isn't able to connect to the server till the update

Server configuration
Operating system: Shared Host on Host Europe, Pack M
Web server: Shared Host on Host Europe, Pack M
Database: MySQL
PHP version: 5.6
ownCloud version (see ownCloud admin page): 8.2.5
Updated from an older ownCloud or fresh install: update from 8.2.3
ownCloud log (data/owncloud.log): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6329079/owncloud.log

Special configuration (external storage, external authentication, reverse proxy, server-side-encryption): no

Do you have access via SSH? Then you should use the occ command to run updates. The problem is that some operation take quite a lot of time that the normal php process runs into a timeout.
Can you create system cronjobs? This way you could as well try to work around this limit.

Unfortunately I don't have access via SSH on my Shared Host at HostEurope. The only access I have is via FTP. So, what else could I do?

So all the apps are working, only the files are not shown? And the version on your admin page is 8.2.5?
This error is a bit strange and could be related to a problem? Are there any special characters in your username?

Code: Select all

{"reqId":"Fks3W6TtzT5frsPtIlCA","remoteAddr":"xx.xx.xx.xx","app":"PHP","message":"Object of class OC\\User\\User could not be converted to string at \/is\/htdocs\/wpxxxx_KAxxxx\/www\/owncloud\/lib\/private\/util.php#1178","level":3,"time":"2016-05-24T09:07:18+00:00"}

This error is even in your logfiles before the upgrade, did you have similar issues before?

Yes, all apps (calendar, contacts, etc) are working. Regarding version, admin page says "ownCloud 8.2.5 (stable)"

I never had problems before and also there are no special characters (so no ü,ä,ö) in the usernames.

Did you copy the data-directory and the permissions have changed? In this case you should find some indications in your server logfiles (problem of the owncloud-logfile is that it is located in the data-directory and if you can't write there...).

The data Directory has the permission "0750"

I really need to get the owncloud working again. So I logged myself in as admin and tried to make an Update vie Web App to 9.0.2. After doing this I got an error while the database was updated:

Code: Select all

Doctrine\DBAL\Exception\DriverException: An exception occurred while executing 'CREATE TABLE `oc_addressbooks` (`id` BIGINT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT NOT NULL, `principaluri` VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT NULL, `displayname` VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT NULL, `uri` VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT NULL, `description` VARCHAR(255) DEFAULT NULL, `synctoken` INT UNSIGNED DEFAULT 1 NOT NULL, UNIQUE INDEX addressbook_index (`principaluri`, `uri`), PRIMARY KEY(`id`)) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin ENGINE = InnoDB': SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1071 Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes

How do I go on now? It would be really grat, if someone could help me!

Are you using InnoDB as engine?
https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/23988

Problem should be fixed (open a new report if the above issue is not the same):

I have the same problem upgrading from 8.2.3 to 8.2.5. All upgrades before worked perfectly. After upgrading to 8.2.5 I still can use my calendar and admin settings, but when I want to see the files, there's only the turning wheel. Downgraded back to 8.2.3
