Accidentally tried to upgrde from 8.1.9 to 9. on Debian

Postby ReniTheMan » Wed Jul 20, 2016 3:00 pm

Hi all,

I accidentally tried to upgrade from 8.1.9 to 9. of course it failed.

I am running Debian 8 (Jessie) with Apache2, PHP5, and MySQL.

Owncloud is currently stuck in Maintenance mode.

Is it save for me to apt-get remove owncloud and the add the 8.2 Rep and install again or will that cause me to lose all my settings/configurations?

I initially apt-get updated && install owncloud using this repository: deb http://download.owncloud.org/download/r ... ebian_8.0/ /

I now realized that I should have used this one first:
deb http://download.owncloud.org/download/r ... ebian_8.0/ /

Here is what was displayed on console:
:/var/www/owncloud$ sudo -u www-data php occ upgrade
ownCloud or one of the apps require upgrade - only a limited number of commands are available
You may use your browser or the occ upgrade command to do the upgrade
Set log level to debug
Exception: Updates between multiple major versions and downgrades are unsupported.
Update failed
Maintenance mode is kept active
Reset log level

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

This should work normally. It is always recommended to make a full backup before running an upgrade.
