debian update after a manual install - possible to retrieve data?

Postby ownerfan » Wed Jul 20, 2016 6:18 am

Please help us by providing the following info. Before posting please also check the pinned "Known issues" thread.

Steps to reproduce
1. Installed ownCloud 9 using the installer setup-owncloud.php in /var/www/owncloud
2.Applied an ownCloud debian update from the Update Manager because I forgot I installed it manually.
3.

Expected behaviour
Tell us what should happen

Actual behaviour
My ownCloud does not work. When I enter my localhost url for ownCloud, it's blank instead of getting the login screen.

Server configuration
Operating system: Linux Mint Debian v2.
Web server: apache 2.4
Database: MySQL 5.5.49
PHP version: 5.56.23
ownCloud version (see ownCloud admin page): 9
Updated from an older ownCloud or fresh install: No
ownCloud log (data/owncloud.log):

Special configuration (external storage, external authentication, reverse proxy, server-side-encryption):

Is it possible for me to retrieve my data that I have stored on a separate drive if I re-install ownCloud again? I didn't backup my config folder or mysql

Hi,

a white page mostly means an internal server error. How to get additional info about that is available here:

Thanks RealRancor.

In the meantime, I checked the owncloud.log file in my data directory and this is the output:

{"reqId":"Q+9RXLWdNi835+xoPSQ7","remoteAddr":"127.0.0.1","app":"PHP","message":"Cannot redeclare class OC_L10N at \/var\/www\/owncloud\/lib\/private\/l10n.php#43","level":3,"time":"2016-07-20T04:05:06+00:00"}

Hi,

this means that you have some old code laying around like seen here for example:

viewtopic.php?t=34154

This hint here:

https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues ... -233917021

might fix the issue that you have mixed a manual package with repository packages.

Yes, the mixed manual and repository installation must have caused an issue. I just re-installed owncloud using the original downloaded zip file I kept and restored my data and config directories. Luckily the repository upgrade didn't change my database and it only changed my config file by changing maintenance => false to maintenance => true.

Now, I'd like to purge the repository owncloud but I'm concerned I'll have issues again and have to re-install. Anyone try that? What happened?
