Connection Failed

Postby welshmark » Wed Aug 07, 2013 1:08 am

I am very new to Linux and OwnCloud so please bear with me. I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and then installed OwnCloud from the installer built into Ubuntu. I can access using http://localhost/owncloud without a problem. I can do the same on my Windows 7 pc using a browser over the local network (http://192.168..../owncloud) but when i try the client i get the message
"Failed to connect to Owncloud:
Connection Refused"

Any advice please?

Hi,

a "connection refused" means your webserver doesn't allow the access. There can be many reasons of this like:

1. A firewall is blocking the access
2. Your webserver is only listen on localhost
3. Your network configuration is broken

I get access via a web browser so I assume my firewall is ok, I'm doing this from another PC on the network so I assume its not Localhost only and and so my network must be ok I think.
I only have the problem using the client

Hi,

any chances that you're trying to connect via https from the client to your server and ssl is not configured in your webserver? Any special proxy settings configured in the sync client or in the global proxy of your windows?

I diagnosed with my Windows Client going to a Windows server, that I had to create the user folders before attempting to sign-on the first time; otherwise the client would never complete the connection after the correct username and password.
